In the 27 meetings since 1998 (and the beginning of KHSAA digital records), LaRue County leads 14-13 over the Panthers of Elizabethtown on the gridiron. However, a rocky start for the Hawks through 7 games has opened the door for the Panthers, and first-year Head Coach Tyler Mattingly to level the series. But the Hawks, facing their biggest rivals, on Homecoming, and what is, due to construction of a brand-new turf playing surface, their first TRUE home game of the 2024 campaign, are aiming to pull of an upset and force Elizabethtown into what would likely be a brutally difficult first round road game in the playoffs.
Heartland Gameday Live kicks off the proceedings at 5:30 with Zac Newton, Bobby Thompson (and probably no shrimp this week either), Charles Dennis, and special guest LaRue County Principal and play-by-play announcer Justin Craft to talk the week in football across the area, plus to set the stage for the Holy War, which kicks off at 7:30.
It’s all live, right here, so don’t miss a second!
This week’s guest pickers are Cody Crim & Tanner Clark, two assistant boys basketball coaches at North Hardin High School. Expect more coaches over the next handful of weeks in the build up to the start of basketball season!
